Earthquake.... 5.8

Yes there was an earthquake... for those of you not in So Cal.
I think, personally, the TV is making a much bigger deal of it than it was.
It was strong... dont get me wrong.
I was with Haley and Hunter at the Ontario Mills when the quake hit.
The big air ducts above us shook and things fell of the shelves...
I looked down at my kids thinking, "Ok, what do I do? Are they ok?"
IT was a long roll.
Hunter says... "Mom," he picks up a toy, "this fell."
My kids were NOT PHASED at all!!!!! - they get that from their dad. I would have been a mess.

For those of you in So cal... Please, tell me where were you when the quake hit? what was your experience...

We were at home in Wrightwood. The whole house creaked like crazy and our lights swung around. Ryan said it felt like a giant stomped on the floor. No biggie here though. Now Matt's work was different - a desk broke and the computer fell off and the building had some cracks.

We were straping our kids into their car seats after the free movie at Ontario Mills. At first I thought my husband was shaking the van, until I saw the van behind him moving up and down too. I then looked around to see the ground and trees moving up and down and said, we are having an earthquake. I was actually surprised that it was 5.4, cause it didn't seem that big to me.

I was at work. (Still am. Wah, wah, wah.) I just sat at my desk and wondered if I should get under my desk or get in the doorway. By the time I decided to stand up, it was over. Then the front desk receptionist announced that all employees were to report to their designated emergency evacuation areas in our parking lot. I tried to call my hubby & Kait's preschool on my cell but never was able to get through. By the time they allowed us to go back inside, I used the landline and was able to determine my family was OK. :)

No damage, injuries, or anything. Just a great way to get out of 30 minutes of work. ;)

Well I wish I was not as phased as your kiddo's. I was at the Flipside in my office sitting on the couch working on my computer and jumped up and stood in the doorway and saw Jeannie Gee at the other end doing the same thing and we were both a little freaked. Paul just sat at his desk telling the person he was on the phone with that there was an earthquake and I saw Kevin Reynolds walking briskly towards the front door telling everyone to get outside before the quake was even over. Crazy times. Fun fact: Jeff said that in emergencies like that that pay phones are the first phone connections to work, then cell phones, then land lines which is why a bunch of us couldn't get through.

I was sitting at the computer and Morgan was napping. She never woke up (California baby). I jumped up and stood next to door wondering if I should bother getting her up and before I could decide it was over. I was shaken up, but I agree, TV is making a WAY bigger deal of it then it was.

I was at work talking with one of my co-workers (standing up). I heard the building shake before I felt it and I looked at one of the other guys in the neigboring cubile thinking he hit something or dropped something and then I realized it was an earthquake and it just kept rolling. Once I walked back around the cubicles to get under my desk, it was over. It was pretty exciting and entertaining for me though. I'm not really phased by them anymore. When I was a kid I did. I think because my parents made such a fuss about getting all of us kids OUTSIDE- I think that made me freak out. I remember Northridge and the Lander's quake so I probably won't get freaked out until it keeps going hard like those did. It was hilarious knowing people at work just wanted to run but not look like idiots running for the door.

I was watching an episode of LOST from the 3rd season - getting ready to pump - I immediately called the hospital before the phone lines shut down to see if Scarlet was ok. Once again, she was better than all of the adults. Len was teaching class... He had to evacuate his students and cancel the rest of class for the day.
